Women's Environmental Network

In the beginning of the year 1994 LIFE's branch in Frankfurt/Main was build up. Since then the Women's Environmental Network aims to link environmental issues and women's issues. In the course of our various activities regarding the participation of women in Local Agenda 21 processes women's issues changed to gender issues and gender justice. Environment got more and more linked to other issues and shifted into sustainability. Our main focus shifted too: from networking to studies on gender issues in environmental and sustainability politics. Support of gender mainstreaming processes in these areas became an important field of our work, attended by conferences to present and discuss strategies and gender issues, by dissemination of information and sensitisation.
Thus the Women's Environmental Network became the Focal Point Gender Justice and Sustainability, which we proudly present to you.
