Gender, Climate & Energy. Analysis of climate and energy policy from a gender perspective

Analyzing climate and energy policy from a gender perspective is one of our key tasks. However, this field of work is also the one the least financially secure. Thus, we cover the issue area of gender, climate and energy primarily through voluntary work and short term projects. We believe that this topic is far too decisive for our future to subordinate it to financial constraints – which are nevertheless setting limits.

You can find information on the nexus of gender and climate policy or on gender dimensions of the Energiewende in Germany in the corresponding "topics". In this section we exclusively report about our own activities.

  • Current Projects

Here we are presenting some of our activities and projects on energy and climate politics:

  • Since 2003 we are advocating the integration of a gender perspective in the international climate conferences (UNFCCC).
  • On behalf of the European Gender Instiute we analyzed in 2012 how the EU member states implement Gender Mainstreaming in national climate politics and policies.
  • In the collaborative project "Renewable Energy and Green Electricity: Target Group-specific Communication Strategies" we analyzed women's barriers when switching to green electricity and developed motivation strategies.
