At this year's UN Commission on the Status of Women meeting, which ran for two weeks in March, feminist activists faced two major struggles. The first was a wave of resistance from groups that opposed women's rights and abortion and did everything they could to undermine rights related to gender and sexuality. The second was inaction on climate change by countries, primarily from the Global North, that called themselves "gender champions" but were unwilling to take the necessary steps. This is reflected in the final text of CSW66, which does not reflect the urgent need for action and the main demands of Pacific and African feminists.
